Came face to face with a bear @ Mountain Creek yesterday. Came around a corner and there was a very large Black Bear on a trail. I had slam on the brakes and stopped about 10 yards away. The Bear was more startled than me and ran into the woods.

I also saw Mommy Turkey with 3 Turkey Chicks. They were adorable.

So this little guy appeared on the pot of fennel. Since it is a swallowtail butterfly in its caterpillar stage, it got to hang out.
Next day, the the brothers and sisters "grew" - guess we aren't having fennel until the fall.

they are next to tomato, cucumber, squash, and zukes. not interested in any of that.

going to put a couple in the butterfly habitat and watch that miracle of nature.

I'm not sure it's the same with all the warts on the cap, it's probably some type of Lepidella - but still don't eat it

Cool bird, it runs back and forth through the water flowing over the dam and catches (?) things from the water.
It stops and waits and watches, then runs into action.

Saw a young bear at Wildcat yesterday afternoon, right at the old cemetery in the woods. Wasn't about to stop and take a photo though.

Young iguana along the canal - tried to catch him but the little guys are too fast, especially in this heat
